This summer I caught a case of summertime sadness. IT was a bad summer fling unfortunately. And even though I got over it the situation and moved on, I noticed that I’ve my sound has been really moody and nostalgic. Sometimes, i feel a piece of us subconsciously holds on to past emotions, no matter how much we say we move on.
here are some songs that remind me of my summertime sadness.
gIRLS NEED LOVE
SUMMER WALKER
A lot of times i feel like I deprive myself from my feelings. I’ve been told, indirectly, that feeling isn’t good and daily, it caused me to question what we feel.
Disconnect
6lack
I love hard. So when things start going wrong i start to crumble.
“My heart hurts because I really feel for you but at the same time i’m not tryna make the situation worse”
COULD’VE BEEN
H.E.R.
We could’ve been something great together but we’ve been pretending and scared of our potential.
We don’t have to be scared of our potential.
Spring has really been a bounce back for me. I really spent a lot of time trying to define myself and understand what I wanted for myself. Life has been crazy up until this point and at one point during the this spring i realized it's only getting crazier. But was it getting crazier on my terms or other people's? I had to face the reality of my situations and decide how i'm going to move forward.
Thus the sounds are more Meditative, Assertive, a bit more Mature.
I am
Jorja SMith
Have you ever questioned yourself and thought "What the heck am I doing!!" ?
What did you do next?
Did you sit there & wallow or did you get up & and act? This song reminds me that once you have that moment of clairity seize that moment and make the best of it. Not everyone is lucky enough to have that clairty so when your moment comes make the best of it.

I'm not saying there won't be any bumps in the road but a bump in the road isn't the end of the road.

" All that glitters ain't gold
And all that shines bright ain't a diamond
All that wrinkles isn't old
And as far as you see ain't the horizon "

Also learn to be content in your journey because a lot of times we find ourselves wishing we had someone else's life when in reality that life isn't all its made up to be.
Coming Home (Interlude) Kali Uchis
"Stay focused". "Trust the processes." "block the haters."
-These phrases all came to mind when listening to this song. Its so important to stay focused on the goals when pursuing your dreams because the words of others can seriously discourage and distract you.
"People will always have something to say. unless it's adding value to your journey, dust it off"
The winter is wrapping up and with the raising temperatures I've been having a little bit of Cabin Fever. The Nostalgic thoughts of the warmth of the summer is making is giving me a lot of inspiration and excitement. This should be a great spring. We'll just have to wait and see what happens!
Here are some sounds to warm you up!
Agorinha Sango
Eu Ri¢h
Backseat Little Simz
Janelle Monae Electric Lady
This winter has been pretty mellow for me. IT was the first time i was truly able to breathe freely with out responsibility. During the fall months i was in school and with that brought consuming tasks and stress. Stress shifted my focus, which caused me to neglect my goals. My goals drive me so I've been low due to the lack.
Thus my sounds have been pretty low, slow and reflective. Here are some songs that I carried with me through these cold months.
something in the way Jorja SMith
It was a really hard period. There would be times I'd just be sitting in my room look at the wall not having much progress. there was just something in the way..
Missin Out Brent Faiyaz
However this song was a mood setter for me in the winter. My goals were all twisted by the end of the Fall. I knew what I wanted to do but my mind was just a mess.. ... this song helped me pause and think.
Lost Jorja SMith
I just felt really Lost. The direction i had was skewed and i was just trying to make something out of nothing. I had to hit the drawing board.
Loner Kali Uchis
During the Fall a lot was happening and nothing was happening at the same time. During these months I spent a lot of my time by myself in deep thought. A lot of things changed during these months; my mindset, creative process, purpose.
